Fall, or some kind of journey

Falling to fall is like boarding a pirate ship,

easy to get on but not easy to get off.

I might as well let go of all my summer days,

and let the solitude grow into golden poppies—

the further away I’m from you,

the wider thsea of flowers.

You don’t say goodbye, or sail with me,

but from the shore you put my wind to sleep—

after the canyon, the glacier, it will be spring.

You’ve forgot Muse's whisper could kill the pain

more than opium, the flowers of oblivion—

I take a little, and the ship will fall.

秋天，或某种远行

进入秋天， 就像上了贼船，

我索性对夏天的日子松手，

让孤独在颠簸中成熟，长出

金色的罂粟，一路铺开——

我离你越远，花的海洋就越宽阔。

你不挥手告别，也不掌舵，

而是在岸上麻醉我的风向——

驶过峡谷，冰川，就是春晓。

你忘了缪斯的家藏，比鸦片花更止痛，

我随手偷一点，船，就会落叶一样沉入毁灭。

Ming Di is a Chinese poet and translator, author of six collections of poetry. Some of her poems have been translated into other languages: River Merchant’s Wife (Marick/USA 2012), Luna fracturada (Valparaíso/Spain 2014), Histoire de famille (Transignum/France 2015) and Livre de sept vies (Recours au Poème éditeurs/France 2015). She has translated four books of poetry into Chinese, and edited and co-translated four volumes of poetry from Chinese into English including New Cathay - Contemporary Chinese Poetry (Tupelo Press 2013) and Empty Chairs (Graywolf Press 2015). She has received fellowship and award from Henry Luce Foundation and Poetry Foundation.
