My Journey to Feel the World

From the strangest and most secret place I started my journey
to feel the four corners of the world with fingers
tumbled through several dimensions, and then
lay on a creaking bed
protesting with tears, and drawing the white mist curtain
with my arms and effort all the way up
behind the curtain are your fading voice and eyelashes
your snow-white and tender-green light of the night

The Creator’s attempt to consume me
is so tedious and dull that the pain
belongs to me, while the joy and delight
to his flowing robe and
his floating clouds and myriads of golden rays
my mother told me over and over again
bypass that area of white sand and kalimeris indica
and you will hit a road full of post stations

In fact, it’s just a matter of inquiry and identification
something of mistakes and misunderstandings, and therefore
being tempted or confused is quite natural
indulgence in loves old and new, pets such as dogs
the most beautiful azure eyes
delayed dream or being surrounded by feathers—
all these will come out one by one in the developer—
and so the generous granary opened by memory

寻 找

从最陌生最隐秘之地出发
十指抚摸世界四角
于几维空间里跌荡，而后
躺在一张吱嘎作响的床上
用泪水抗议，用手臂，用心血
长路上拉合白色雾幔
后面是你洇去的声音和睫毛
你白晳葱嫩的黑夜之光

造物主关于我的尝试
如此繁琐和枯燥，痛苦
属于我，欢乐和趣味却归于
他飘飘欲逝的长袍
他的浮云和万道金芒
母亲一遍遍叮嘱
绕过那片白沙和马兰
踏上满是驿站的旅途

这其实是一场询问和指认
是错失和误解，诱惑
迷失是再平常不过的事情
沉湎于旧情与新欢，宠物如狗
最美的蔚蓝色眼睛
梦乡姗姗来迟，被羽毛簇拥
景物在显影液中一一析出

Zhang Wei, a contemporary novelist and poet, is the vice-presi¬dent of China Writers Association, who had his first poem published in 1975 and Complete Works of Zhang Wei (50 volumes) issued in 2020. Some of his writings have been translated into the languages of En¬glish, Japanese, French, Korean, German, Serbian, Spanish, Swedish, Russian, Arabian, Turkish, Romanian, Italian, and Vietnamese.
His works include novels such as An Ancient Boat, Fable of Sep¬tember, Song of a Hedgehog, The Book from a Foreign Province, You Are on the Plateau, The Secret Pharmacist, and The Secret History of Aiyue Castle; poems such as The Way of Conversion, A Night Spent in Bay Garden, Home in Wangsongpu, Figaro Café, and I Am with the Si-lent Oak; and poetic monographs such as Meditation on Li Bai and Du Fu, The Heritage of Tao Yuanming, Notes on The Songs of the South, and Reading the Book of Songs.
He is the winner of Mao Dun Literary Prize, China Publishing Government Award, Chinese Excellent Publications Award, China Writers Publishing Group Special Award, Southern Media Outstanding Writers Award, and Jing Dong Literature Prize.


张炜，当代小说家、诗人，中国作家协会副主席。1975 年发表诗作。
2020 年出版《张炜文集》五十卷。作品译为英、日、法、韩、德、塞、西、瑞典、俄、阿、土、罗、意、越等三十多种文字。
著有长篇小说《古船》《九月寓言》《刺猬歌》《外省书》《你在高原》《独药师》《艾约堡秘史》等；诗集《皈依之路》《夜宿湾园》《家住万松浦》《费加罗咖啡馆》《我与沉默的橡树》， 长诗《不践约书》《铁与绸》等；诗学专著《也说李白与杜甫》《陶渊明的遗产》《楚辞笔记》《读诗经》《斑斓志》《唐代五诗人》等。作品获茅盾文学奖、中国出版政府奖、中华优秀出版物奖、中国作家出版集团特别奖、南方传媒杰出作家奖、京东文学奖等多种奖项。
