Born 1969 in Jiaozhou, Shandong Province, Gao Xiuqin graduated 1998 from Peking University with a B. A. in Literature and has been employed at Peking University Press since 1998. She is now Vice President at Peking University Poetry Institute. Her major written works are China’s Countryside and City in Literature (Shaanxi People’s Education press, 2006) and MuDan: A Melancholysuffering Soul (Beijing Shiyue Press, 2007). She is co-compiler of Special Topics in Contemporary and Modern Literature and 20th Century Chinese Literary Experience. She has published articles in key journals such as Peking University Journal and Qilu Xuekan. In poetry, she tries to make language and emotion into a seamless whole, converting emotive rhythms into poetic rhythms. She has published many poems in pen name Lady of Xiang River. She has published a poetry collection titled Lady of Xiang River’s Love letters, and prose work: Matters of Flowers (co-authored with Xie Mian).
